Surviving and Thriving: My Journey After a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Advocating for Wellness and Resilience
My journey of overcoming the challenges and aftermath of a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage consisted of several things, like being sent home with a heart monitor to ensure the cause of my brain bleed wasn't heart related; it wasn't.
I also received weeks of what's called "Home Health Care" which included a physical therapist visiting several times a week. These visits consisted of assistance with relearning to navigate the stairs leading up to my apartment, strengthening exercises, and the slow process of increasing my walking endurance which started with short trips to the mailbox and back, that surprisingly left me exhausted at first. Additionally, I had a "no driving" restriction and initially had to have someone present when taking a shower.

Fast forward and those restrictions and milestones are behind me. Now, I'm focused on daily exercise, healthy eating, limiting stress, and expressing gratitude for the simplest things in life that may have once been overlooked.

I believe in the power of storytelling to inspire and support others with similar journeys. So, I invite you to explore and share, and together let's create a community of strength and hope.
